Getting started
How do I add a reflection?
Tap the + button in the app to add a new reflection. You can paste or type any quote, passage, or idea. Optionally add a source and a short note about why it matters to you.
What is the “Why did I save this?” field?
This optional field lets you record the context behind an entry — the moment you encountered it, why it resonated, or what it means to you now. It's often the most meaningful part to return to later.
How do I mark something as a favourite?
Tap the heart icon on any reflection to mark it as a favourite. Favourites are surfaced more often in the widget and are easy to filter to in your library.
Home Screen widget
How do I add the widget to my Home Screen?
Long-press any empty area of your Home Screen until icons start to jiggle, then tap the + button in the top corner. Search for Recollect, choose your preferred widget size, and tap Add Widget.
How often does the widget update?
You can choose between daily and hourly refresh in the app's settings. The widget surfaces one reflection at a time from your library, with favourites given priority.
The widget isn't showing my reflections — what should I check?
Make sure you have at least one reflection saved in the app. If the widget still appears blank, try removing and re-adding it from your Home Screen. If the issue persists, please contact us below.
Managing your library
Can I organise my reflections into categories?
Yes. When adding or editing a reflection you can assign it to a category. You can create, rename, and delete categories from the library view.
How do I delete a reflection?
Swipe left on any reflection in the library and tap Delete, or open the reflection and use the delete option in the menu. Deletion is permanent.
Is my data backed up?
Recollect stores all data locally on your device. If you have iCloud Backup enabled in iOS Settings, your Recollect library will be included in your device backup and restored if you get a new phone.
Account & privacy
Does Recollect require an account?
Yes. You'll sign in with your email address when you first open the app. Your reflections themselves are stored locally on your device — the sign-in is simply to identify your account.
Does Recollect collect any personal data?
Only your email address, which is used solely to identify your account. Your reflections and all content you add stay on your device and are never sent to our servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
